Get them back on track: The 12-Week A Level Maths Recovery Programme

Why is my child struggling with A Level Maths? You're not alone. The jump from GCSE to A Level Maths is often bigger and more challenging than students expect. I created this 12 week programme for Year 12 students to get back onto the path of steady success before they start the pivotal final year of A Level Maths. Starting dates from March to June.

"She completely changed the game for Fred. He's grown in confidence as Amy guided him through the content."

Does this sound familiar?

These are the struggles I hear most often when parents first get in touch.

Declining grades despite real ability

They achieved Grade 6+ at GCSE but are now facing disappointing results and growing anxiety about university options.

Understanding it but freezing in tests

They can follow examples in class but panic when questions look slightly different — understanding isn't translating into marks.

Hours of effort with little to show for it

They're either putting in hours with minimal improvement — or they've lost motivation entirely and don't know where to start.

Confidence has taken a hit

The negative self-talk has started. They're avoiding asking questions, procrastinating, and beginning to believe they're just not cut out for this.

What's really happening

Most students don't struggle with A Level Maths because they can't do it — they struggle because the transition from GCSE requires a completely different approach to learning and understanding.

At GCSE, many students succeed by memorising steps and procedures. But A Level demands real understanding, the ability to think flexibly, and confidence to tackle unfamiliar problems. When their old strategies stop working, capable students can quickly lose confidence and develop a negative relationship with maths.

This isn't just tutoring — it's a complete support system

Unlike typical tutoring that tries to keep up with current work, this programme takes a step back to rebuild your child's mathematical foundation while building genuine confidence.

  • Weekly Live Lesson Focused group sessions rebuilding Year 1 foundations.
  • Custom Videos Personalised explanations created for your group to watch between sessions.
  • Video Homework Feedback Personal video feedback on every piece of homework — all saved in their Pencil Spaces board.
  • Bi-Weekly Check-Ins Complete wrap-around support and encouragement throughout the week.

Is this programme right for your child?

Perfect for students who:
  • Achieved Grade 6+ at GCSE Maths

Why I created this programme

I'm Amy — a fully qualified maths teacher with over a decade of A Level experience.

After 10+ years teaching A Level Maths, I had my lightbulb moment watching a capable Grade 8 GCSE student get a D in summer Year 12, then work 'really hard' over the holidays... only to get another D in the resit. He was doing papers, making notes, putting in hours — but he wasn't truly learning.

That's when I realised: these struggling students don't need more information — they need implementation support, mindset work, and confidence rebuilding. They don't need someone who says 'see you next week' — they need accountability and encouragement throughout the week.

I'll be completely honest with you:

I only take on students I genuinely believe I can help succeed. During our consultation, I'll be upfront about what's realistic for your child's situation and whether this programme is the right fit.

Frequently Asked Questions

This isn't just a lesson once a week where you're left to figure things out on your own. It's a structured recovery programme with full wraparound support. Students get live weekly teaching, a follow-up video to watch in their own time, targeted homework, personalised video feedback, and check-ins from me twice a week to keep them on track. Traditional tutoring says "see you next week." I text twice weekly to make sure they're actually doing the work.

I don't make false promises about specific grade improvements — every child is unique. That's why I always start with a free consultation to assess your child's specific situation and discuss realistic expectations. My focus is on giving them the best possible chance of success through proven methods.

I offer a happiness guarantee because I only want students who find the programme helpful. In the unlikely scenario that you want to cancel, you will be refunded any unused weeks of the programme, no questions asked. But here's the thing: if it's not working, we'll know early because of the twice-weekly check-ins, and we can adjust the approach before you'd even consider cancelling.

They'll need to commit a minimum of 3 hours per week: 60 minutes for the live session and around 2 hours for video review and homework. But think about it this way: 3 focused hours per week for 12 weeks, or continue struggling for the next 18 months? The time investment now saves massive stress later.

Yes, everything is 100% online, delivered through a secure, interactive whiteboard platform. You'll need: a laptop or iPad, a webcam, and a way to write on screen (I recommend a graphics tablet or an iPad with a pen).

Start by booking a free consultation. We'll talk through your child's situation and see if the programme is a good fit. If we're both happy to go ahead, you'll secure their place with payment.
